Wer es nicht kennt, denkt beim Ruhrgebiet (im Volksmund liebevoll 'Ruhrpott' genannt) meist an dunkle Rußwolken am Himmel, Bergbau, Kohle, Stahl und schmutzige Städte. Diese Zeiten sind allerdings längst Geschichte. Tatsächlich grünt es in und um Essen herum, vielerorts mehr als man vielleicht glauben mag. An Tagebau und die schwere Arbeit in den Zechen erinnern heute nur noch ehemalige Industrieanlagen, die nicht nur Denkmäler, sondern oft auch schöne Grünanlagen, Museen und Erholungsgebiete innerhalb der Städte im Ruhrpott sind. Das bekannteste ist sicher 'ZECHE ZOLLVEREIN'! Natur, Geschichte, Kunst und Kultur laden hier immer wieder zu einem Besuch ein!
Those who do not know it, think of the Ruhr area (popularly affectionately called 'Ruhrpott') mostly dark clouds of soot in the sky, mining, coal, steel and dirty cities. These times have long been history. In fact, it is greening in and around food, in many places more than you might think. Today only former industrial plants, which are not only monuments, but also often beautiful green areas, museums and recreational areas within the cities in the Ruhr Valley, are reminiscent of open-pit mining and the heavy work in the mines.
